Dr. Mary Olufunmilayo Adekson is a counselor educator whose broad based and deep knowledge will help others gain in depth understanding of how to interact appropriately and successfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Dr. Adekson possesses external knowledge of and experience in multicultural education, consulting and counseling and she taught multicultural education and counseling at several universities, including Ohio University, Bowie State University, and in the last decade and a half at St. Bonaventure University and Empire State College in upstate New York.
In addition to instructing and mentoring students, Dr. Adekson is well-versed in facilitating training services for teachers, professors, administrators, CEOs and workers aimed at equipping them to successfully interact and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. She utilizes personal examples from her experiences when dealing with individuals from different backgrounds. Dr. Adekson retired from her teaching and advising roles at St. Bonaventure University in June 2014.
